Rocky had picked out a beautiful apartment for us on a previous trip. Once we arrived in China we stayed in a hotel for a few days while we set up our apartment. This is where the adventure actually began!
We set out first to purchase a cell phone. Easy right? Go to the nearest Verizon or U.S. cellular and get an account set up. NOT!!!! First you must buy a phone, then you go to the store next door and purchase the sim card, 3 invoices and six hours later the cell phone is in hand but not in operation! Then you must call a number to activate the phone, oh but wait...we don't speak mandarin. Thank God for Frank, our Chinese relocation specialist. He got my phone up and running.
The whole family was to go along to pick out mattresses from IKEA the next morning. We woke up and were heading up to breakfast when Ramsey started saying he didn't feel well. Madilynn started crying because she didn't want Ramsey to puke on her at breakfast. I started crying because at this point I was jet lagged, tired of being in a hotel, and now my children were starting to meltdown! The next thing I knew Ramsey was in the bathroom vomiting and had a fever of 101.4!!!! Madilynn and Rocky went to IKEA without us. That was a GOOD thing.
